Shakespeare with a modern twist

Here at English Language Homestays we always try to find new and exciting topics for our International Summer School Programme and this year is no exception! So we sat around the table and thought about Shakespeare. So our Summer School this year will be based on “Shakespeare with a modern twist!

How does that work, you ask?

Having thought about engaging young Learners as well as having fun, we wondered if we could teach Shakespeare and then ask our Young Learners to put their own interpretation on it.  We also thought that having a day at a Globe Workshop combining Shakespeare; Acting and a tour of the Globe Theatre could not be beat.

So on one of our day trips to London we walk along the South Bank and then stop off at the Globe Theatre.  After a tour and workshop we move further along to the iconic London Eye before heading home via a boat trip up the River Thames with City Cruises

After that we work with the students on a play focussing around Murder; Love and Comedy and for those who don’t want to act, we engage them in Costumes; Lighting and Scenery.  Students have a vivid imagination and allowing them to write their own version of a play really makes for great run.  You can be sure there is a lot of Poetic License in these !
