Being an English Language Homestays Host Family is a fun, interesting and rewarding experience that generates an extra income for you. Host Family accommodation is a great opportunity for you to share and explore British culture.
If you live in the Sussex towns of Shoreham-by-Sea, Lancing, Steyning, Storrington, Hove or Eastbourne we would love to hear from you. We have many host families around Brighton who offer Homestay accommodation in Brighton and the surrounding area as part of our English Language Homestays UK accommodation. We are always looking for families as part of our Homestay in Bournemouth as well as Homestay Accommodation in Edinburgh.
What is a host family?
Our Short Stay and Summer School students require ‘homestay’ accommodation. This simply means that our students stay in the home of our selected hosts during their stay.
What’s Involved in being a Host?
Firstly, to be a Host you need to have a spare guest room that has 1 or 2 beds in it and be keen to let our guest students come and stay.
However, being a Host is not only about providing accommodation to a foreign student but also about creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for someone who is on holiday in a foreign country. For our younger students this is especially important as this may be their first time away from home.
Our Hosts provide Full Board accommodation or to put it another way, provide all their meals. In practice this means breakfast and evening meal, with a packed lunch during the day as the students are normally out on activities.
Unlike our Homestay Tutors, you are not expected to formally teach students. The students that go to Hosts are part of a programme with lessons included which are conducted at our language schools. You are encouraged to talk to the students to help them improve their English during their stay.
