High School Programmes in South Africa

Protea Heights Academy focuses on Mathematics and Science, which are  compulsory subjects for all grades. The IT department is advanced with excellent opportunities to  keep up with the development of technology. Students are also exposed to sport, culture and leadership opportunities in addition to the excellent academic education. The days begin with Maths lessons before sunrise, through the day’s academic work to afternoon sport and into the evening with play rehearsals and leadership training. We love this school based at the foot of Sir Lowry’s Pass close to the Strand and local surfing. Its in a great region offering students who love sports the chance to really enjoy then whilst in The Cape. Hottentots Holland is no stranger to European High school students and you will regularly find a good collection of students from many countries in Europe visiting the school for periods from one month to one academic year. Hottentots is a good all round school but pays particular attention to offering social experiences after school. Before “ play” you will be encouraged to take part in all of the main subjects such as English; Maths; Geography and Science and Buddies are always about to guide you through your first few weeks.

Simons Town High School is one of the oldest High Schools in South Africa and its students achieve a high success rate when achieving exam results.  Steered by the very capable Ms Jean Human, you can be assured of a very warm south african welcome when you arrive and you will quickly be absorbed into school life and its many projects and activities.  This school also has a large Hospitality Programme which you can join should you not be so academically minded.   If you enjoy debating then you can get the chance of practising your English against other schools.   Being right across the road from Boulders Beach there is also the chance to get involved in Conservation work after school.

Brackenfell High endeavours to equip learners with a sound basis in order for them to excel in any tertiary academic environment. The wide subject choice as well as the dual medium language policy of the school gives the learners an extra edge! Various platforms are in place and they have a proud cultural tradition. Some of the activities include dance and drama. They give learners the opportunity to show their talent on the sport field. Brackenfell High School have a proud sport history and regularly produce provincial representatives. Learners get good quality coaching.

Rhenish Girls school is located in the stunning wine district of Stellenbosch.   All of our host families also have girls attending this school so it makes for an easier transition for you.  Your school Buddy will probably be the girl you are staying with.

This school excels in both sport (particularly Water Polo) as well as Academia .   It has a strong ethos of giving back to the local community.  Although this is also an Afrikaans district, you can be assured your school and host family speak English as their first language.

Sans Souci is a school that welcomes students from all backgrounds and has a reputation for high achievers.
