What is a High School Experience or a Schüleraustausch?

High School Experience or a Schuleraustausch for those students who want to experience life in another “English speaking” country; whilst also attending High School then look no further! Our South African English Language Centre based in the beautiful coastal town of Cape Town is waiting, just for you!

We are able to offer a true High School Experience or Schuleraustausch in the Cape Town area for periods from one calendar month up to one academic year. During your time in Cape Town you will attend one of the local High Schools and immerse yourself fully in school life. You can attend all of the Lessons and make lots of new friends. We ensure you have a Buddy for the first week to show you around the school and take you to class.

Schüleraustausch or  Student exchange

Schüleraustausch refers to the mutual visit of student groups or individual young people across national borders. The purpose is to get to know the culture in the host country, the host country as such, the language and the school contents. By doing so, pupils can train their intercultural competence in an exchange, improve their own language skills and learn to become more independent.

After Lessons you will have the choice of “ after school murals” that are an essential part of your new school life in South Africa. You will be amazed at the choice of activities. They can be from Public Debating; Drama; Sailing; Water PoloRugbySurfingVolunteeringand even Chess! Many schools offer weekend trips to show you more of this amazing country,so make sure you put your name down for one of these courses.

Recently a group of students spent a day at Knysna Elephant Sanctuary, helping and walking with these wonderful animals. Some even luckier students were able to spend the night in the Boma with the elephants and had an elephant ride the next day!

Schuleraustausch means the visit of groups of pupils or individual young people across national borders. The aim is to get to know the culture in the host country, the host country as such, the language and the school content. “

Your host family will have been inspected by us and known to both us and our Local Cordinator. Your Local Coordinator will meet you on arrival; check you are happy and see you on the first day at school. We try to find host families who also have their own children attending your school of choice. This makes it much easier for you to get to and from school and you also have someone you know there. Our Host Families are regularly inspected and will delight in showing you around Cape Town and the surrounding areas.

We have a choice of nine schools and colleges to choose from and all within easy reach of Cape Town and the surrounding areas. And you can arrive any time throughout the year, subject to spaces in your chosen school.
