On arrival you get to see which international student is the princess of the group and which one is going to be a challenge! Today was an interesting day in my class, the subject was Festivals and my 13 and 14 year old Czech students described in great detail some great festivals that took place in their area
It was a perfect day to visit the park: a sunny Sunday, without any clouds. After an hour and a half of driving in the “bakkie” (that is what South Africans would call a sports utility vehicle!) with my whole host family, we finally arrived. It was a very exotic place for me – no urban environment, only mountains, vegetation and sea on the horizon.

What can you say to be a native “English Slang” speaker? Oh and what does “ slang” mean…. Here is one explanation.. Slang consists of a lexicon of non-standard words and phrases in a given language. Use of these words and phrases is typically associated with the subversion of a standard variety (such as Standard English) and is likely to be interpreted by listeners as implying particular attitudes on the part of the speaker.
Cornwall has a history of shipwrecks because of the coastline which although very beautiful, is also very dangerous. Quite often the lifeboats have been called out to try to rescue boats caught on the rocks…but more than that, Cornwall is quite simply one of the most magical places on earth. After all, didn’t King Arthur and Merlin originate from here…..
is a new school, 3 years old, spacious, multicoloured, with young vibrant teachers. The school is absolutely focused on academic achievements, especially on science, Maths and IT. Ms. Horn wants it to be the top technology school in the region/Western Cape. Students who are interested in the arts will not benefit going to this school. Science and maths are compulsory subjects. They have a huge IT center where their grade 10’s are already doing programming.
There is also a growing trend in the UK for reptiles. I think Lizards and frogs are one thing but there have been reports of people buying “ small snakes” and after a few months they are sharing their bath with a python. Not a lot of clever planning and thought went into that purchase, eh?
Sometimes its hard to make time to book a flight and come to England to Learn English. Sometimes you just want a few days locally, but still an English Immersion where you can speak and practise your English as if you really were in England!
