10 Reasons to Study Abroad in England

England’s beautiful culture, land, and people make it a top destination spot for students of all backgrounds, languages, and educational goals. The top ten reasons to study abroad in England are listed below.

1.World Class Universities

England is home to some of the most prestigious universities in the world including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and the Imperial College of London. When it comes to higher education, England has numerous top universities for science, language, and the arts. Many of these schools have impressive study abroad programs that attract students from all around the globe.

English is the most widely used language in the world. Many international students say that learning English is their number one reason for studying in the UK. The English language has been known as being one of the more difficult languages to learn. This is why England offers many great homestay opportunities for students to live with English-speaking families. What better way to brush up on your language skills than to be fully immersed in the language every day?

3.Rich History

With human settlements ranging back to the Ice Age, there is bound to be a wealth of history and culture throughout the country of England. There have been numerous groups of people who have conquered the land within the last 500,000 years, but today, Queen Elizabeth currently wears the crown for what is the longest lasting monarchy in world history. The British Library in London, England holds many historically significant documents such as the original manuscripts of Manga Carta, old Beetles’ lyrics, and various forms of the Bible. There are also other big cities in England that bring their own rich history, such as Birmingham, where the industrial steam engine was invented, and Manchester, the city that lead England into its Industrial Revolution.

4.Easy Access to the Rest of Europe

Among many other reasons to study abroad in England, its close proximity to various other beautiful countries in Europe entices those who desire to see other parts of the world as well. Other countries in the UK, such as Scotland and Wales, are only a train ride away. Spend the weekend or even just the day exploring downtown Cardiff or the riverfront scenery of Glasgow. If you’d like to venture outside of Britain, there are several cities that are just a short flight away. Rome, Munich, France, and Amsterdam are just some of the incredible cities that are accessible in just less than three hours on a plane. Go ahead, the world is your oyster!

5.Great Study Spaces

Students in England have said that the British Libraries is their favourite place to study because of its expansive campus, quiet corridors, and massive book collection. If libraries aren’t your cup of tea, there are plenty of cosy cafes, charming outdoor parks, and of course the various universities.

6.Scholarship Opportunities

While there are countless reasons why students choose England as their study abroad destination, scholarship opportunities are among one of the more important motives. The United Kingdom offers countless scholarships to international students based on anything from merit to financial need to leadership experience. College is not cheap, and that is why students need all the help that they can get.

7.Job Opportunities

Another way for students to help cover tuition costs is to work part time while they attend school. All international students who study full time at recognised UK universities are allowed to work up to 20 hours during the school year. On holidays, they are allowed to work full time. Between scholarships and working part time, studying abroad becomes a very affordable endeavour!

8.Diverse Range of Courses

Because there are so many prominent universities in England, you can study any subject that your heart desires. There are an abundance of fascinating subjects and degree programs offered that will give any student a well-rounded education. Study medieval architecture, aerospace engineering, digital design, or French literature. If you can dream it, there is probably a course for it.

9.Cultural Diversity

England is a cultural hub for people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. The UK does have its own cultural identity that includes tradition, religion, and language but there are millions of people from other countries who also reside in the region as well. England is very popular for its foreign cuisine and you will be sure to find restaurants serving Chinese, Italian, Lebanese, and Spanish foods. If the mention of delicious food doesn’t convince you of why you should study abroad in England, then I don’t know what will.

10.Public Transportation

There is no need for a car when living England. The public transportation can get you pretty much wherever you need to go. The Tube will get you around London. Outside of the capitol, there are plenty of community buses to take you around the cities and taxis for more rural parts of the country.
